Liverpool will have Jermaine Pennant back in their squad for Sunday's home game with Spurs after the winger was forced to sit out the midweek Champions League defeat by Marseille because of suspension.

Boss Rafael Benitez also has a worry over the fitness of full-back Fabio Aurelio, who was taken off against the French side with a muscle problem.

Benitez had Javier Mascherano, Dirk Kuyt, Alvaro Arbeloa, John Arne Riise, Ryan Babel and Andriy Voronin all on the bench against Marseille with the Spurs game in mind, and most should figure on Sunday.

Harry Kewell, Daniel Agger and Xabi Alonso are all still long-term injury problems.

Tottenham are hopeful midfielder Jermaine Jenas will return from an abdominal strain.

Dimitar Berbatov and Pascal Chimbonda were rested for the midweek UEFA Cup tie with Anorthosis Famagusta and are set to return, while Aaron Lennon had swelling on his knee but it is not thought to be serious.

Ricardo Rocha has had surgery on his ankle and will be out for more than two months, while Ledley King is still recovering from knee surgery. Teemu Tainio is available again after suspension.

League Cup : Torres give lesson to Benitez

Fernando Torres scored a hat-trick to inspire Liverpool to a 4-2 victory at Reading in the League Cup third round.

The Spain striker was on target three times in the second half after Israeli Yossi Benayoun had put Liverpool in front before the break with his first goal for the club.

Benayoun's 23rd-minute effort was cancelled out by Bobby Convey's volley before Torres pounced five minutes after the break with a precise low finish after being played in by Sebastian Leto.

Reading levelled again after 64 minutes through John Halls but Torres proved the difference.

John Arne Riise came off the bench to tee up Torres after 72 minutes and the Spaniard struck again four minutes from time after rounding the Reading keeper.

It confirms that Lucas have been transfer from Gremio to Merseyside. The player has been the hottest property to come out of the southern Brazilian Tricolor Gaúcho since FC Porto number 10 Anderson and Barça number 10 Ronaldinho.

Career

Lucas started his career with Gremio, making his first team debut on October 22, 2005 in a 1-0 win over Nautico in Serie B.Gremio went on to win the league that season, gaining promotion to the top tier of Brazilian football.

2006 was a successful year for Lucas and Gremio, winning the Rio Grande do Sul state championship (the Campeonato Gaúcho) for the first time since 2001, and also coming third in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A. Lucas also became the youngest player to ever to receive Placar magazine's Bola de Ouro (Golden Ball), given to the best player in the Campeonato Brasileiro an honour previously won by the likes of Zico, Falcao, Careca, Romario, Kaka and Tevez.

In October 2006 Lucas was brought into the senior Brazilian squad for friendlies against Kuwaiti club Al-Kuwait and Ecuador. Lucas was both the youngest member and one of only two non-Europe-based players in a strong squad. He made his debut for Brazil on October 7, 2006 coming on as a second half substitute against Al-Kuwait. Brazil won the match 4-0. However, this appearance does not count as his first cap as the match was not considered an official friendly match by FIFA.

His form in 2006 lead to reported interest from many major European clubs including Palermo, Inter, Juventus, Atlético Madrid and Barcelona.

Lucas is the current captain of the Brazilian Under-20 team. He helped the team to victory in the 2007 South American Youth Championship, scoring 4 goals in the process. He is expected to again lead the team in the 2007 FIFA U-20 World Cup which will be contested in Canada in July 2007.

My Though
As expected, we win over the Gunners after 3 previous matches we outplayed by Arsenal 'Youngster'. What I can say about this result. I'm satisfied with the scoreline although it can be more than 4 actually.

Formation
4-5-1 have been selected by Rafa. After 2 Euro qualifier, there some players are still exhausted. So, from my opinion its a good formation with midfield combination Xabi and Mascherano for holding and Gerard for free play behind Crouch, It's give more advantage to our center to give more pressure to Arsenal center. Xabi and Mascherano give more advantage to Gerard to play as free role behind Crouch. That's why, Crouch didn't have more pressure from Arsenal defender because they more focus to Gerard, give Crouch space to get 2 goals from the air.

Defend is absolutely brilliant although some patchy man marking from Agger and Carra ( When Baptista get a chances to level again but he shot wide and consolation goal from Gallas ). Other than that, our defender give a good composure to denied the Gunners get a goal, even get into the penalty box.

Our forward give more headache to Rafa after good perfomance shown by Crouch. Hatrick from Crouch, 2 by head and 1 by leg. What I can say about this guy. He play brilliant again Arsenal defenders with good running and set pieces.

Champions League

Craig Bellamy travelled with Liverpool's squad on Monday for their Champions League quarter-final against PSV Eindhoven despite still feeling the effects of a rib injury.

The Welsh international had been left out of the squad that beat Arsenal at the weekend, having picked up ankle and rib injuries while away playing for Wales last week.

Bellamy was considered fit enough to fly to Holland with the squad but said: "I got a really hefty knock from the San Marino 'keeper last week in Cardiff.

"It still hurts now when I breath but I really hope I will be fit to play against PSV. This European run is so important to me. I really want to be involved in what is the best level I have played at during my career."

Liverpool will monitor Bellamy over the next 24 hours before deciding whether he will figure against PSV in the Phillips Stadion on Tuesday.

Manager Rafael Benitez has no other injury problems with skipper Steven Gerrard, taken off against Arsenal due to tiredness, also in the party.

Steve Finnan and Sami Hyypia, rested on Saturday, were also in the squad. Mohamed Sissoko is suspended for the first leg.

Arsenal midfielder Gilberto is out of the Barclays Premiership trip to Liverpool with a hip problem. Striker Emmanuel Adebayor is available again following his four-match domestic ban but fellow forward Jeremie Aliadiere (foot) will also miss the game at Anfield.

Defenders Gael Clichy (hamstring) and Emmanuel Eboue (ankle) have both recovered match fitness during the international break. Captain Thierry Henry (groin and stomach), Robin van Persie (broken foot) and Theo Walcott (shoulder) are all sidelined.

Peter Crouch could be involved for Liverpool after injury.

The England striker has been training this week following an operation to repair his broken nose, and boss Rafael Benitez must decide whether he can be risked ahead of next week's Champions League trip to PSV Eindhoven.

Full-back John Arne Riise will make his 200th league appearance for the club against the Gunners, and is only seven games short of 300 for the club in all competitions.

ASTON VILLA face Champions League chasing Liverpool with just two wins in 18 League and Cup matches over four months, and are putting in their worst ever performance in a Premier League season.

Martin O'Neill's side were third in mid-November, and were in freefall until mid January when two victories in three outings, home to Watford and West Ham, stemmed the tide. Since then, they've managed one point from a possible nine, and receive the Merseysiders on the back of Wednesday's 0-1 defeat to Arsenal - their first home game in nearly six weeks.

Villa have lost twice as many Premiership matches against Liverpool as they have won (lost 16, won eight). The Midlanders have not defeated the Reds since a 1-3 triumph at Anfield on 8 September 2001, and have not beaten them on home turf since prevailing 2-1 on 28 February 1998 when Stan Collymore scored a brace.

LIVERPOOL travel on the back of two 0-1 home defeats to Manchester United in the Premiership, and Barcelona in the Champions League, although the latter still saw the Merseysiders through to the quarter-finals. Dropped points has now probably given the Reds too much to do to catch Chelsea in second, but with a six point advantage over fifth placed Bolton, their place in the qualifying round for next seasons Champions League is assured, barring a total collapse.

Rafa Benitez has witnessed 10 victories in 14 Premiership games from his club. They've won twice as many League games as they've lost (won 16, lost eight), recording five victories from the last seven on the road.

The Merseysiders are unbeaten in 10 Premiership matches against Villa, and have won the last four against them. They made sure of the points in this season's reverse fixture with a three goal burst in a devastating final 15 minutes of the first half to inflict a first defeat on Villa since Martin O'Neill took over. Now they're looking to 'double' Villa for the second successive season, and fourth time in the Premiership.
